Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about how Runwell works: hours, rollovers, scaling, and what happens when your needs change.
What if I don't have enough work for a month?
Up to 20% of your unused hours roll over to the next month. After that they reset. If you find yourself consistently under 50% for two months, we'll suggest a downgrade or a pause so you're not paying for capacity you don't need.
What if I need more hours than my tier?
Extra hours are billed on top, at a rate we agree when you start. If you go over regularly, moving up a tier is usually the better deal, and we'll tell you when that point comes.
Who does the work?
Your account manager plans the work and hands each task to the specialist best suited to it. Paul, our founder, oversees every account and the standard of work.
How does billing work?
Retainers and the Content Engine are paid monthly upfront, with a 3-month minimum, then month to month. Standalone builds are paid in full upfront before work starts.
Can I pause my retainer?
Yes. Pause with 15 days' notice, keep your rate locked in for 90 days, and pick back up whenever you're ready. Pausing is available after your first 3 months.
Can I cancel?
Yes. After your first 3 months, cancel with 30 days' notice. We export your data, hand back credentials and write a handoff doc.
What's the difference between a retainer and an add-on?
Retainer = pooled hours of ongoing specialist work across all skill areas. Add-on = one-time productized project with a fixed scope and price (Notion build, website, LinkedIn setup, etc.). Retainer clients get 15% off any add-on and priority scheduling. Retainer hours can also cover one-time builds.
What happens to my Notion setup if I offboard?
Anything we built for you as a custom add-on transfers to your Notion workspace directly. The basic client-portal template we use to run your engagement is our internal template, but you get exports (Google Docs, PDFs, CSVs) of anything inside it that's yours.
Can you sign an NDA?
Yes, standard mutual NDAs are fine. Send yours or we'll send ours.
How do you handle skill areas you don't currently offer?
We'll always be honest about it. If something falls outside what our specialists cover, we'll tell you up front. New tools are a different story: if you're already using software we haven't worked with, we'll learn it quickly, so you don't have to hire someone just to run it.
Can we hire someone from your team full-time?
No, our team stays with Runwell. If you want a full-time operator of your own, we'll hire one for you for a one-time placement fee and train them on everything we've built for you, so they start ready to run it.
